Bicycle

It's not a big deal about bicycle and cycling. I used to cycle to school since primary school. The one I used to own was called "mini-bike". But the interesting about this new bicycle I was trying out yesterday is it is a foldable bike. A 10kg medium size wheels can be folded into a hand-carry bike. It's a bit heavy for me. Anyway, I cycled home yesterday. This morning, I cycled to office again. It was fun and relaxing exercise. Bro said everyone should cycle to work :)

Niece "explored" the bicycle last night and kept on saying "kekle". This morning, she was crying hard to ask bro to carry her on bicycle. My bro & niece like the idea of cycling. Dom, thanks!

Maybe I should get one...

Triflex from GNC

It was kind of impromptu to walk in GNC just now and I spent $90 (retail price is $119.50) just for a bottle of 120 capsules glucosamine. I jog regularly, guess wear and tear of my cartilage. No choice, must take care... Sigh..

Barefoot

I was walking toward a bus stop when my sandal spoiled. As the bus was alighting passengers, I got no choice but to take out both sides and went barefoot. Some ppl were looking at me and some not even notice. Luckily my block is about 200m away.. I walked without shoes till I reached home. It's an experience walking barefoot along the pavement and to watch out for nails, glasses or other sharp things on the pavement.

Timer On, Timer Off

After a few tries, I finally figured how to use the two timer buttons on aircon remote control. I thought Timer On is to turn on the timer in order for it to countdown to on the aircon whereas Timer Off is to turn of the timer if I don't want it later. But......... I was wrong......

Timer On - turn on the aircon after the duration is set
Timer Off - turn off the aircon after the duration is set

No wonder, when I set the timer on, the aircon never turned off.......

Samsung Aircon

For the first time, I have aircon in my room and it is brand new! Bro bought a system two so one in my room and one in theirs'.  I don really like to turn on aircon while sleeping. First, no air circulation in the room. Second, dry. Third, cold. But tonite will be an exemption. New aircon must cut the red ribbon. I really swa gu..

E&N Lesson #1

Finally after a week, I decided to go see doctor. My ears and nose are blocked since last Mon.The nurse took my temperature before I was called to see doc. First question doc asked - Did i travel out of country? I said "Hmm.. I just came back from Penang". He followed with Penang food is good, all come with small potion and can eat a lot.He asked me since when I m blocked. He counted and said 8 days. Then he poked otoscope into both ears and said my ears are fine. Then checked my throat.. said "ahhhhhh". Throat also fine. He said most probably my nose. I dont have sensitive nose, all along my nose is not sensitive to dusts. I dont sneeze often, I dont have running nose. Then he showed me a diagram of nose and ears. Explained to me ears divided into three parts. He said eustachian tube connects to nose. He said if he put a pen through the nose it will goes into eustachian tube. So, the blocked ears is caused by nose. Ok.. what happen to my nose? Many reasons.. He prescribed me Telfast-D 2 tabs a day & Fluimucil A600 1 tab a day for 5 days. I cant remember which one can cause insomnia.. He also asked if I want a spray that normally given to patient. I said I don't want.
Anyway, after 5 hours of the first dose, all still blocked...

Home again

I think since early this year, I have been traveling back to Kulim many times. I will be going home again tomorrow. But this time, I am a bit worried. My ears and nose are blocked since Monday. Tiredness and body ache. Normally after a good rest, the ache will be gone. But the blockage still there. It is very uncomfy, head feels heavy and sometimes I can't balance myself. I have knocked my head against toilet door, room door, my elbow to the wall, my legs to the bed frame.........

I don't have running nose, I don't have cough, I don't have fever. I went yoga yesterday to hope that I would get better.. Sigh...my condition still the same.

Hope I will get better soooooooooooooooon........

Sleepless Night

My last blog was posted about two weeks ago. I have been busy recent two weeks and never thought I would update at 3:56 in the morning! I am not into motherhood as what Ann is experiencing now (I just read your blog - 2hours interval..hahaha), I am not having insomnia, I did not drink coffee earlier and the list goes on. It was a long day in the office. So, I went to bed early just now - 10:15pm. But somehow I woke up at 2+ until now.

Few more hours, I gonna get ready to work and I still awake.. Sigh..

I fell down like stock market plummets

First time ever... I fell down during my normal routine - JOGGING. The best thing is I fell on my normal route. I have been jogging there since nearly two years ago. I was with another 3 friends whereas bro and another friend were far unseen. We jogged in a pair side by side. Somehow, I stumbled and fell on the pavement. Immediately, center of graviti took over, I have open wounds & bruises on my knees. Ok.. blame on the terrain, my clumsiness and the darkness.. Afterall, looking at it now, it is not that serious.. just few red patches on my knees and hand :)

Before Chinese Niu Year

Two more days to go before CNY. Unexpectedly office was not quiet during second half. Everyone was busy with either greetings fellow colleagues Happy Niu Year, sharing cookies, conf call or meetings. Some of them will be travelling across the bridge back to hometown to be with family members during this auspicious day.

Our family not celebrating CNY this year. So, I am staying in SG instead of joining the crowds in 2nd link. Sis in-law's parents invited me for reunion dinner on Sunday at Raffles Marina Club. My plans for Monday and Tuesday will be lazying at home watch tv, read books or play console games.

Guess my plans will work out fine...

My First Printer - HP Photosmart D7160

I got my first ever printer! I was trying get it works yesterday. Sourced for a power cord, full set of cartridges and photo papers with the help from Dom.

Happily on the printer........... Kaboom... It said "Use the introductory cartridges that were shipped with your printer" The printer was smart!

However, Dom found some host cartridges. But two colors didn't work - cyan and light magenta. Last resort is to ask the expert, FP to overwrite the firmware... In the future, I don't have to go Photo Oasis to print my photos anymore :)

Orion

That is the name of my first and only puppy. When I first saw him, immediately he attracted my attention. It was like love at first sight. I brought him home. Bought some toys, food and a crate for him. He was a happy and naughty pup. When he was unleashed or out of his crate, he ran happily until he always skidded.

Taking care of a pup is never been easy. First, need to make sure he has all the necessary injections. Next, is daily hygiene, food and activities as well as training. When he barks non-stop, need to find out what is wrong. When a pup falls sick, veterinary is the place to visit.

Training for Orion supposed to be easy because he was a lab. I woke up as early as 5:30am and went to bed as late as midnight just to let him poo. Sometimes, he didn’t poo so the trick was to turn him round in circle a few times. Naturally, his business will be done in few minutes.

Next training was to teach him simple commands such as sit, down, up and come. Training ground was at a garden. He was bewildered when he was on the grass. With simple bait and weeks of effort, he finally managed to follow some of the commands.

Day after day, I noticed that he was growing well until I did not manage to carry him in my arms. Sadly, the time we spent together was short. I guess fate has decided for Orion to go to a better place. I miss him so much...

Kulim - Home sweet home

This is my first time I write about my hometown. Kulim located in southern Kedah with population about 200k. I remember when I was small, I used to follow brothers to a small waterfall near my house. There we used to catch prawns and fishes. We can even see prawns in the drains! But all those has became memories to all of us. The rubber estate that we used to find rubber seeds to challenge each other has turned into bigger residential area. The woods across the road used to be our playground with wild berries also gone. The roads that I used to cycle to school are no longer safe for cyclists.

Nasi lemak, char koay tiaw, cendol, koay tiaw soup, curry mee, koay chap are all the foods that still the best in Kulim. I hardly find any compatible in Singapore.

A simple google returns many results about Kulim:

Marked 3years of My Life in SG

Oct 31st 2005 was the first day at work in Singapore. It is like a blink of eyes, 3 years has past. In these 3 years, I met many friends. There are friends that I still keep in touch and also friends that come and go. One of the great things throughout the 3 years in Singapore is I met few of my hometown friends that we had not been in contact since secondary school. After 15 years, it is amazing that we managed to meet up. Besides, I also met my course mates which we lost contact since graduation. Life in SG is busier with more activities other than work, work and work. Though, we try to meet each other once a while to catch up, to see who has gained weight, moved house, married, still single, more kids, studying, recent movies, weathers, who is hot, etc. All the things we can talk about..hahaha..

After staying a year alone in a rented room, I moved in to stay with bro and sis in-law. Life is much better where I can have my own big bed, big wardrobe, big tv..hahaha. Honestly, the only thing that counts is staying with family. Now with little niece around, life is merrier!
I remember I used to go back to my hometown once a quarter, then once every two months. Later became once a month. Then due to work, I did not go back for almost 3months and parents started to complain..hahaha.. Parents scared their daughter goes missing!

Career..Hmm..nothing to proud of. I moved from programmer to Business Analyst and now ended as System Engineer. I always like my job. Maybe I am lucky to have good bosses and great colleagues. I still remember the last day I was in my previous company back in Penang, me and my lady boss hugging each other crying! When I left the first company that landed me in SG, to avoid sobbing situation, I decided not to have farewell. I told the secretary to donate the money for my farewell. Out of goodwill, she donated by using my name. That was the first time I made official donation in SG. Now in current company for almost two years, I am glad that I am surrounded by nice colleagues and good bosses AGAIN. Being the only female in my team, they all treat me like their sister.

Health, I have nothing to complain so far. I think I am fit but not fit enough to complete 42.2km without walking.. hahaha..

What else did I miss out here… Must be the one that I did not write so far ;)

Shifting Office

Due to re-org early last month, we are moving to the other side. Same building, same floor, different pillars. Everyone was busying packing their stuffs be it files, documents, papers, food, pets, monitor, desk phone etc. Things were thrown away too. I worried about my tank. But lucky I have one master that will help on that!.Not only the tank, there is one CO2 tank below my table!

I have been working for years and this is my first experience shifting office. My colleagues told me that this is common. It happens almost every two years. Maybe it is good that we all can do "spring cleaning” once every two years. If not, our cubicles sure packed with rubbish! Lol...
